Frequently Asked Questions

Can I attend another school while I am on academic suspension from UHM?
You will have automatic readmission to UHM if you do not attend any college credit granting institution during the period of your academic suspension and reapply to Admissions and Records by the published deadline.

If you choose to attend an institution during your academic suspension you will forfeit your automatic readmission to UHM. You will then have to meet the criteria used to admit "transfer" students to UHM. If you are thinking of attending another institution during this period it might be a good idea to discuss your options with an academic adviser.

Does summer count as my semester on academic suspension?
No, when you are suspended from A&S you are out for either fall or spring semester. Note that if you are suspended based on your spring semester performance, your suspension period includes summer.

If I retake a course in which I did not do well in at UHM, will my initial grade be changed or erased?
No, your grade will not be changed or erased. All grades are posted on the transcript. If you are thinking of retaking a course it is best to discuss it with an academic adviser because you may not need or want to retake that same course.

If I am on academic probation at the end of the spring semester and I raise my cumulative GPA to 2.00 or above during the summer session will I be removed from academic probation?
No. Academic actions are only changed at the end of the fall and spring semesters. The academic action and its conditions will still apply to you throughout the fall semester. So please be careful and make sure that you understand all the conditions that apply to you.
