The Colleges of Arts & Sciences are comprised of four colleges that offer an integrated curriculum leading to baccalaureate degrees, certificate, and minors in their respective colleges.  An excellent education is at the heart of UH Mānoa, and the Colleges of Arts and Sciences are at the heart of of this mission, providing students with a comprehensive learning experience in a vibrant academic climate.  The colleges offer a liberal arts curriculum that stresses the integration of knowledge to enhance students' understanding of life, the human condition, and the world in which we live.

College of Arts and Humanities  

The arts (e.g., dance, music) are academic disciplines that explore and represent human thought and behavior in creative works.  Creating works of art is a way of both coming to understand and expressing ideas and feelings.  The humanities (e.g.,history, philosophy) are academic disciplines that study human thought and experience through written record of what people have thought, felt, or experienced in a variety of cultures. The physical and biological sciences are academic disciplines that study the physical world (chemistry, physics), its inhabitants (biology, botany, marine biology, microbiology, zoology), and the symbolic relationships within.  Some involve the creation of systems for describing the physical world or biological behavior in abstract or mathematical terms (mathematics, ICS).
