  A & S Program Requirements Sheets (1996-2006)

How Do I Select the Appropriate Arts & Sciences Program Requirements Sheet?

The menu selections on the left represent Arts & Sciences Program Requirements Sheets for the last ten years.  Program requirements for each academic year may be different.  In order to select the appropriate program requirements for you, depending on your current situation, use the following guidelines:

·      New Arts & Sciences Freshmen and Non-System Transfer Students:

If you are a new freshman or transfer student who did not complete courses at any UH-System campuses (e.g. Hawaii Community College, Leeward Community College, Maui Community College, UH-Hilo, etc.) follow the program requirements in effect at the time you entered UH-Manoa.  For example, if you are a new freshman or non-UH System transfer student who started at UH-Manoa this academic year (not including summer session), you will use the latest Program Requirements Sheet for the BA or BS or BFA for the current semester.

·      University of Hawaii System Transfer Students:

If you are a transfer student who began within the UH System (e.g. UH-Hilo, Kapiolani Community College, Windward Community College, etc.) follow the program requirements in effect at the time you entered the UH System provided you were continuously enrolled.  If, for example, you began at Kapiolani Community College in 1999 and did not have more than a one-semester break in enrollment, you will use the 1999-2000 Program Requirements Sheet for the BA or BS or BFA.  But if you began at a University of Hawaii System Community College or UH-Hilo and had a break of two or more contiguous semesters (for example, Fall 1999 and Spring 2000 or Spring 2000 and Fall 2000)—excluding Summer Sessions—you will use the Program Requirements Sheets for the semester you return to any UH-System College or University.

·      Returning Students:

If you are a returning student who experienced a break in enrollment without having taken a leave of absence for two or more contiguous semesters (for example, Fall 1999 and Spring 2000 or Spring 2000 and Fall 2000)—excluding summer—you will follow the requirements in effect at the time you return to UH-Manoa or another UH-System University or Community College.  For example, if you first attended UH-Manoa from 1995 to 1997 and then did not attend any UH-System University or Community College until Fall 2004, you will follow the 2004-2005 Program Requirements for the BA or BS or BFA.  Please note, if you only have had a one-semester break in enrollment, you will follow the requirements in effect at the time you entered the UH-System.

·      Reminders:

We encourage you to be familiar with the BA or BS or BFA Program Requirements Sheets for the year you entered the University of Hawaii System.  Please remember, though, the Program Requirements Sheets are not a substitution for advising.  If you have questions or concerns, please make an appointment to meet with an adviser in our office.  If you are not sure how to select the appropriate Arts & Sciences Program Requirements Sheet, please feel free to contact us at 956-8755.  Major requirements are not identified on the Arts & Sciences Program Sheets.  If you have a question about your major, contact the undergraduate adviser in the major you plan to pursue.

Based on your entry into the system, click on the appropriate year.
