What is a
JUMP Session?
A JUMP Session
is a small group workshop where 12-15 Arts and Sciences
students, working with academic advisers, review their academic
records to determine how the courses they have completed meet
their degree requirements. Students have the opportunity to
start developing an Academic Plan. The results of a JUMP Session
is a full degree audit.
At JUMP
Sessions an A&S academic adviser will clarify:
- The total
number of credits you must earn to graduate with a degree
from the Colleges of Arts & Sciences.
- The number of
Arts and Sciences credits you must earn for an A&S
degree.
- The number of
non-introductory credits you need to graduate.
- The number of
writing-intensive courses you need to graduate.
- What the GPR
requirements are.
- What happens
when you repeat a course.
- The number of
practicum credits applicable towards your degree.
- The number of
directed reading credits applicable towards your degree.
- The Arts
& Sciences program requirements you must fulfill for
graduation.
Who should
sign up for a JUMP Session?
Arts and
Sciences Juniors or Seniors who intend to pursue an Arts &
Sciences major (or even Sophomores who are close to completing
55 credits) and who want to know the progress they have made
toward completing their degree. Also A&S students who need a
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) form, an ROTC plan, a plan
for a Liberal Studies major, or any other type of verification
of expected graduation date must complete a JUMP Session.
When
should a student attend a JUMP Session?
The best time is
when the Arts & Sciences major is declared, usually at the
end of the sophomore year or the beginning of the junior year.
